Dolly-Parton

Dolly Parton, who was born in Locust Ridge Tenn. on Jan. 19. 1946 into a very humble family of 12 children eventually included, discovered early that she was able to escape the hardships of her life by using a creative mind. Before she was able to write or read, she was making up the songs she wrote herself. When she was eight, she bought the first electric guitar she owned and began singing on a Knoxville Tenn Radio Station. Gold Band Records is a small, independent label. While she was an established local celebrity while at high school, her goals were bigger. The day she graduated from high school, it was 1964. The first charting record she had for Monument Records included Dumb Blonde and Something Fishy both in 1967. Porter Wagoner's syndicated tv show needed the services of a new singer by this point. Parton got her first gig in the year 1967 she signed with RCA Records by 1968, she joined the Grand Ole Opry. It was not until 1974 that she decided to leave Wagoner's band because the popularity of her individual records such as Joshua Coat, Many Colors, and Jolene had outstripped their collaborative efforts. Parton's hit song, I'll Never Have Love for You (for Wagoner), reached the number. 1 spot after they split. This was the first time that a song was able to reach No.
